TPACK lesson reflection

1.     How well the use of this technology may support your teaching strategies in this activity.  The use of technology helped support my teaching strategies tremendously because of the fact I wasn't able to be there physically. But also, because my lesson was mostly relying using the internet via YouTube, and brain quiz.

2.     How effectively the use of this technology may enhance students' understanding of and learning from your particular content in this activity? The use of my resources that were available to my students like YouTube so that I could show my video that I had on Khan academy for my lesson plan. Also, I used a free website to create a quiz, so my students could briefly answer questions from the material the video provided to introduce a new topic.

3.     What are your strategies and why do you think your strategies are appropriate to teaching this specific content? What makes you believe it would help your students comprehend this particular content? The Flipped Classroom is on of the teaching strategies that I used to make my teaching effective. I think it would make it effective because as I said on the Khan academy Ted Talk it shows how the flipped classroom has been a success for 10 years now and I found that I was able to work for me and my lesson as well.

4.     What would be some conceptions and pre-conceptions that students of different ages and backgrounds bring with them when learning this particular content? What would you be concerned about students' prior knowledge, experiences, motivation?
I think the prior knowledge for the student can be based off any age because now a days anyone can work a laptop with internet. I think the only thing I could be worried about is that it would be too time consuming for some people and could procrastinate due to looking up other stuff the internet.

5.     What main instructional strategies would this technology use serve in your activity? How would using the technology support the way you teach this activity? The flipped classroom method by using a online video with a quiz based of that material. Using the technology allows the students to have access to the lesson.

6.     What different classroom management strategies you might need to consider when using this technology in the activity? I think with by having a more elaborate lesson plan with better videos and activities for the students to gain knowledge and be able to quiz themselves for a daily grade assignment.

7.     In what different ways students practice or understand the content in your activity that would otherwise not be possible without the use of the technology? In addition to motivational benefits, what else can students do with this technology as they are learning the content?  I think the only way you couldn’t use the technology and how it wouldn’t work would be that if students were having a hard time with working with the internet, but everything is accessible I don’t think it would be a real issue with helping students learn. They can discover and start learning on their own.

8.     How would using this technology enhance the way the content is represented in your activity (e.g. demonstrations, explanations, examples, illustrations, analogies, and etc.)? That is why you think the selection and the pedagogical use of this technology may enhance what you teach (the content in your activity) I think this technology gives students a different way to think and understand the material. It benefits other students that may be having difficulties in class and using these videos on youtube can help the student break down the video on your own time and pace.

  1. I think you did a good job with your presentation not being present in class. It really put the flipped classroom into perspective! I enjoyed history throughout high school and college, so it was fun getting to know your presentation!

  2. Anthony, I thought you did great for having to use technology in more than one way. The video was a bit long to hold attention but it was very informative. The game was effective and got us all interacting as a whole. Job well done!

  3. Even though it was tough doing it over Skype I thought you did very well on your lesson. History could be hard to hold students attention but I thought you did a very good job explaining things.
